The Reality of the Lebanese Banking Sector
Since 2019, the Lebanese banking sector has faced substantial changes, with reductions in branch and staff numbers and some banks undergoing mergers or restructuring. Currently, the sector comprises 57 banks, including 45 commercial banks and 12 investment banks, according to data from Banque du Liban. Despite ongoing challenges, Lebanese banks continue to operate within regulatory frameworks, increasingly focusing on digital services and enhancing operational efficiency.
