The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday that its air defense systems intercepted and shot down 635 Ukrainian drones over Russian territories during the night.
The Ministry of Defense issued a statement saying: "Last night, alert air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 635 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over the areas of Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Oryol, Rostov, Ryazan, Saratov, Tambov, Tula, the Moscow region, the Republic of Crimea, Krasnodar Krai, and the waters of the Azov and Black Seas."
Earlier on Sunday, the governor of Russia's Rostov region, Yuri Slyusar, reported that air defense forces repelled an attack on the Rostov region overnight, destroying approximately 150 drones.
Slyusar stated in a Telegram post, "Last night, air defense forces repelled a large-scale attack on the Rostov region," as reported by Sputnik news.
He added, "About 150 drones were destroyed in the city of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky and seven other areas, including Chertkovsky, Tarasovsky, Millerovsky, Morozovsky, Kamensky, Sholokhovsky, and Azovsky. Unfortunately, there were consequences on the ground."
Separately, the governor of the Saratov region, Roman Busargin, announced that two people were killed in a drone attack in the region.
Busargin wrote on Telegram: "Two people were killed in a hostile drone attack. Our sincere condolences to their families and friends. All necessary assistance will be provided to them."
Also on Sunday, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that the Russian Ministry of Defense's air defense forces shot down six Ukrainian drones that were heading towards Moscow.
