The Israeli army announced on Thursday the death of two of its soldiers and injury of four others in an incident caused by an explosive device in southern Lebanon, marking the first losses sustained in over a month, according to an Israeli channel.
In detail, the "Israeli Army Radio" stated: "Yesterday around 12:00 PM, an Israeli army force from the combat team brigade 55 conducted operations in the Majdal Zun area in southern Lebanon."
It continued: "During the operation, the force entered a building in the area. Upon entering, an explosion occurred, which is believed to be from an explosive device planted there."
"The explosion resulted in the death of a major and a first sergeant, along with four Israeli reservists suffering serious injuries," added "Israeli Army Radio."
Furthermore, "Channel 12" in Israel reported that "the army does not know whether the explosive device was recently planted at the site or if it is an older device."
Following the incident, Israeli air forces launched attacks targeting sites in the area after issuing a warning, the first since weeks, to evacuate the village of Al-Mansouri in southern Lebanon.
On Wednesday, the Israeli army announced it had begun precise strikes in southern Lebanon.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported yesterday that an Israeli strike targeted the southern town of Tebnine, killing one person and injuring 11 others.
