According to 'Yunews' agency, Iran thwarted a planned Syrian military intervention in Lebanon, which was reportedly being prepared at the behest of the United States. The agency reports that Tehran directly warned Damascus that any military entry into Lebanese territory would be met with the activation of multiple fronts within Syria and along its borders.
The Iranian warning was conveyed to Damascus via Turkish intermediaries, including a threat of missile strikes that would target over 100 strategic sites, starting with the presidential palace, in the initial wave. The agency learned that the warning from Iran was not only directed toward Damascus but also reached Ankara, Baghdad, Doha, and Riyadh.
The Iranian warning also conveyed that any Syrian action against the party could escalate into a wide-ranging regional confrontation within Syria.
