President Donald Trump has declared that the United States will prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, highlighting that Tehran's possession of such a weapon would endanger Israel's existence and the future stability of the Middle East.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump asserted, "We will not allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon, and they won’t."
The U.S. president labeled Iran as the "world's leading state sponsor of terrorism," emphasizing that it is crucial to prevent the nation from accessing nuclear arms.
Trump stated, "If Iran had a nuclear weapon, the Middle East would almost disappear, and Israel would certainly vanish."
In a separate discussion on the perils associated with the presidency, Trump mentioned that he does not fear being shot, despite surviving assassination attempts.
He remarked, "It’s a dangerous job," referring to the presidency, and noted that only influential presidents are subjected to such risks.
Trump explained that the dangers tied to the presidency have grown in recent years but noted that his security team, whom he described as "excellent," ensures his safety.
Trump's comments on Iran come in the wake of U.S. forces striking rocket launch platforms on Larak Island at the entrance of the Strait of Hormuz.
The U.S. Central Command stated that the strike targeted members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard who were preparing to deploy rockets equipped with naval mines aimed at the strait, according to the American account.
