Iranian President Masoud Bazshkian has stated that the country won't remain passive in the face of aggression, asserting that instability in the region benefits none of its nations and will pose challenges for all, according to Russia Today.
He announced today that Iran "does not seek war, but will respond firmly to any aggression against it."
As reported by Iranian television, Bazshkian reiterated before departing Tehran for Kyrgyzstan to attend the "Shanghai Cooperation Summit" that "not pursuing war is a clear message we've conveyed to the world so far."
He added, "However, we will never remain inactive in the face of any aggression, and we will respond decisively to aggressors," emphasizing that "instability and unrest in the region do not benefit any of its countries, as they will present challenges for everyone."
This comes after escalating tensions last night, when U.S. forces announced they targeted what they described as "Iranian missile launch platforms" in the Strait of Hormuz, marking the first U.S. military action against Iran in weeks.
In response, Iranian television reported missile launches from various locations in the country targeting regional objectives following the U.S. attack on Larki Island.
Additionally, U.S. President Donald Trump announced early this morning the targeting and destruction of Iran's Kharg Island, accompanied by an AI-generated video in his post.
