Edgar Traboulsi, the rapporteur of the Education Committee, revealed to MFM that there is no strategic plan to revitalize public schools. He pointed out that a 'financial excuse' is currently being used to close some schools, despite the government spending large sums on unused buildings. Traboulsi emphasized, 'We support reducing waste, but not at the cost of education.'
Traboulsi has urged the Ministry of Education and municipalities to act swiftly to prevent the closure of several public schools and uphold the principle of education for all. He indicated ongoing 'confusion with the ministry in multiple issues, not just the merger of public schools.'
Traboulsi disclosed a confidential list of 10 new public schools set to close and be merged, describing it as a 'clear plan to undermine public schools in favor of the private sector.'
