Saudi Arabia Bans Import of Meat and Eggs from Three Regions in France

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority has decided to impose a temporary ban on the import of poultry meat, table eggs, and their products and preparations from the regions of "Landes," "Pyrenees-Atlantiques," and "Gers" in the French Republic, due to the outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza in those areas.

The Authority stated in a statement today, Tuesday, that the ban was issued after reviewing a report from the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), which indicated new outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza in these regions.

The Authority excluded from the temporary ban poultry meat, table eggs, and their products that have been heat-treated to eliminate the avian influenza virus, provided they comply with health requirements and approved standards, along with a health certificate issued by the relevant authorities in France confirming the product's freedom from the virus.

This decision follows the Authority's previous decision number (14280/Q) dated 1442/5/20AH, which imposed a temporary ban on the import of poultry meat, table eggs, and their products and preparations from the region of "AINT GEOURS DE MAREMNE" in France, due to the outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza.
