Arab Countries Call for UN Security Council Meeting to Discuss Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam Crisis

Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, stated that the Arab countries, which met with their foreign ministers in Qatar on Tuesday, are calling for a meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss the dispute regarding Ethiopia's intention to fill the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam built on the Blue Nile. Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani mentioned during a joint press conference with Aboul Gheit that the Arab League may also take gradual measures to support Egypt and Sudan in the conflict over the dam.
