Beijing Urges Washington to "Stop Provocations"

The Chinese Ministry of Defense called on the U.S. on Thursday to "acknowledge the situation and stop acts of provocation," following the entry of the U.S. Navy destroyer "USS Curtis Wilbur" into Chinese waters around the Paracel Islands. According to Bloomberg News, the statement also noted that China urged the United States to refrain from "creating consequences or troubles for both countries and the militaries." The statement emphasized that the Chinese military will take "all necessary measures" to respond to "threats and provocations."
