According to the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai, Abdulaziz Al-Qarawi, the weather forecasting observer at the Meteorological Department, reported that temperatures reached 53.5 degrees Celsius in some areas of Kuwait today and yesterday. He expects a decrease in temperature to normal levels by next Sunday, ranging between 48 and 49 degrees Celsius. Al-Qarawi stated to Al-Rai that the temperature measurements announced are recorded in the shade. As for the temperature under the sun, the Meteorological Department does not use these measurements, but they can be read from car devices and other equipment, where temperatures during the day range between 65 and 70 degrees Celsius. He explained that temperature readings are taken globally based on a standardized mechanism, which measures air temperature in the shade.
