Qatar's Foreign Minister Visits Beirut in Efforts to Resolve Political Crisis in Lebanon

Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani is visiting Lebanon to meet with President Michel Aoun. He is also expected to meet with the designated Prime Minister Saad Hariri and Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, as part of Qatar's efforts to help resolve the political crisis in Lebanon. In February, the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, urged Lebanese political parties to prioritize national interests and expedite the formation of a new government during his meeting with the designated Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri, who was visiting Qatar at that time. The Qatari News Agency reported that the latest developments in Lebanon were discussed during the meeting, where Hariri updated the Emir on the current situation and efforts related to forming the government. In April, the Emir of Qatar reaffirmed his country’s ongoing support for Lebanon and its constant stance alongside the Lebanese people. He also called on all Lebanese parties to prioritize national interests and swiftly form a new government to establish stability in Lebanon during his meeting in Doha with outgoing Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab.
