Haitian police announced on Thursday that 28 individuals involved in the assassination of the country's president, Jovenel Moïse, have been identified, noting that a search is underway for 8 additional fugitives. The police stated that of the 28 identified, 26 are Colombians and 2 are Americans, according to AFP. Last Wednesday, acting Prime Minister of Haiti, Claude Joseph, announced the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse at his private residence. Joseph stated in a statement that "unknown assailants attacked the president's residence, Jovenel Moïse, during the night and shot him, and the First Lady was injured in the attack." It is worth mentioning that Moïse, 53, took office in 2017 after winning the presidential election held in 2015, which was repeated in 2016 due to the competitor's refusal to recognize the voting results.
