A mysterious fever has spread in northern India, and concerned health officials are frantically searching for answers after the sudden death of 24 children who fell ill with this unknown disease. Responders in Bawal have failed to clarify the cause of the deadly fever and have launched an investigation. Experts say the mysterious illness begins with joint pain, headaches, dehydration, and nausea, ultimately leading to death, according to the Mirror.
A health official stated, "Samples have been collected to identify the causes of the mysterious fever." One parent reported that his daughter died after being taken to the hospital complaining of fever. The father said, "My daughter complained of a fever last Thursday evening. We admitted her to the Medical College in Nuh for treatment, but she died that evening." Another parent said his son experienced similar symptoms and also died the following day.
The alarming news in India comes after more than 50 people, mostly children, succumbed to another mysterious fever last August. The deaths have caused panic among doctors, and those in the affected regions suspect that dengue fever, a mosquito-borne viral infection, may be the primary cause of the fatalities.
