A man retained a mobile phone in his stomach for six months in a bizarre incident revealed by a hospital in Egypt. Aswan University Hospital stated yesterday that the patient was suffering from severe abdominal pain, which necessitated his examination by Dr. Mohamed Zaki Al-Dahshouri, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Hospital Board, according to the news website "Youm7."
Dr. Ashraf Ma'abed, the hospital director, confirmed that medical care was provided to the patient, who was in significant pain upon arrival. He mentioned that the patient underwent imaging and medical tests that confirmed severe inflammation in the abdomen and intestines.
Ma'abed noted that the doctors decided to open the operating room immediately to save the patient's life, and during the surgery, they discovered a foreign object in his stomach, which turned out to be a mobile phone. He added that the phone had been in the patient’s stomach for six months, blocking food intake, before the doctors successfully saved him.
