The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, stated that the COVID-19 pandemic will end "when the world chooses to eradicate it, which is within reach given the availability of all tools to combat the virus." He reiterated his call for a more equitable distribution of vaccines. During a conference in Berlin, he said, "The pandemic will end when the world chooses to eradicate it; it is within our grasp, and we have all the tools we need." He expressed regret that "the world has not used these tools wisely so far," emphasizing that the pandemic is not over yet, with around 50,000 deaths recorded weekly worldwide.
