Iran claimed on Wednesday to have thwarted a US attempt to seize an oil tanker in the Sea of Oman, according to Iranian television. It was clarified that "the United States seized a tanker carrying Iranian oil intended for export and transferred its cargo to another tanker, taking it to an unknown location," before the Revolutionary Guard's navy "boarded" the second tanker and seized it, according to the claim. It was also confirmed that the tanker "is currently in Iranian territorial waters."
Additionally, Tehran alleged that a confrontation occurred between the Revolutionary Guard and US forces over the oil tanker, while no comment has been issued by Washington. Meanwhile, sources from Al-Arabiya reported that US forces forced an Iranian oil tanker to return to Iranian territorial waters, preventing it from passing through the Arabian Sea.
