Three Italian dancers died following a car accident during a trip in the desert near the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. The tragic traffic incident occurred last Friday involving a vehicle occupied by Antonio Caggianelli, aged 33, from the Barletta-Andria-Trani province, Giampiero Giari, 32, from the Italian capital Rome, and Nicolas Esposito, 28, from the Agrigento area in Sicily. Their car collided with another vehicle on one of the rugged desert roads.
The three dancers were in Saudi Arabia with a troupe of 10 dancers, all of whom were Italian, for the opening of a new theater. On their day off, they decided to take a trip to explore the Riyadh desert accompanied by local guides. For reasons still under investigation, their vehicles crashed into a ravine, and their bodies were recovered and transported by helicopter. In the aftermath of the tragic accident, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs contacted the families of the deceased, who arrived in Saudi Arabia on Monday to identify the bodies, which are expected to be returned to Italy in the coming days.
