A Saudi citizen weighing 500 kilograms has managed to walk again after six years of suffering due to obesity, following a surgical procedure that involved over 60 doctors, nurses, and technicians. Abdullah Al-Dhuhayan, the head of the Saudi Association for Laparoscopic Surgery, shared a video of the Saudi citizen, Mansour Al-Sharari, showing him walking on his feet while surrounded by cheering doctors.
Al-Dhuhayan commented on the video: "Thank God, Mansour Al-Sharari, after not walking for six years, started physical therapy, sports, and dieting three months ago, and underwent surgery a month ago. He is now preparing to return to his family." He added, "This is the effort of more than 60 doctors, nurses, and technicians, not just one person's effort but everyone's."
The 40-year-old citizen Mansour Ouda Al-Sharari had appealed to King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in July for intervention and assistance in receiving treatment within or outside the Kingdom. Sources indicated that Al-Sharari suffers from severe obesity, weighing nearly half a ton, and had been experiencing pain and health issues for five years without any response from health authorities in the country. King Fahd Medical City had announced its response to Mansour Al-Sharari's case and agreed to treat him.
