United Nations: The Exit of Mercenaries from Libya Creates Positive Momentum Before Elections

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya welcomed the results of the joint military committee meeting in Cairo with representatives from Chad, Niger, and Sudan, agreeing to establish a communication and coordination mechanism with neighboring countries. The UN mission stated in a statement reported by the Libyan channel "218" that the withdrawal mechanism agreed upon with the mentioned countries will take into account the full needs and concerns of Libya and its neighboring countries, under the supervision of communication and coordination committees assigned in Libya and neighboring states to monitor the implementation mechanism.

The mission praised the continuous efforts of the joint military committee for the exit of all mercenaries and foreign fighters, along with the national spirit and commitment shown by the joint military committee, whose members worked as one. The mission called on member states to support the joint military committee, Libyan authorities, and neighboring countries in implementing the exit of mercenaries and foreign fighters, emphasizing that the exit of mercenaries and foreign forces creates further positive momentum in light of the scheduled presidential and parliamentary elections in December.
