United Manager: We Were Like a Boxer Taking Hits Against Liverpool

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær described his team's evident struggle in the first half against Liverpool as akin to a boxer receiving repeated blows in the early minutes of a fight. Solskjær noted that he was expecting a quick and strong response from the players in the match that ended in a humiliating 5-0 defeat for the "Red Devils."

Following the embarrassing loss at home last Sunday, where his team conceded four goals in the first half, Solskjær faced a barrage of criticism, leaving the fans at Old Trafford in shock. Solskjær told reporters before his team's match with Tottenham Hotspur in London later on Saturday: "That performance was not acceptable. I felt like we were a boxer taking successive punches and falling to the ground in the first minutes and the first round of the match."

He confirmed that he is in contact with the club's management but has not sought any assurances regarding his future at the helm of the team's coaching staff. The Norwegian manager added: "When you are in a situation like ours, you don't ask for that. My job is to set things right, and that's what I'm trying to do," as reported by Reuters.

Following the defeat to Liverpool, United has failed to win in four matches in the Premier League, having conceded nine goals in their last two losses.
