A man killed his five-year-old daughter with an axe after being incited by his wife in Damascus. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights disclosed that the perpetrator struck his daughter on the head with the axe and then secretly buried her, attempting to conceal his heinous crime. The observatory noted that the girl had been subjected to torture at the instigation of her stepmother, with the father admitting to beating her with a hose, binding her, and burning her with cigarettes because she frequently dirtied her clothes and provoked his wife's anger. The father and his wife were arrested, and during their interrogation, their statements contradicted each other, raising suspicions about the cause of death, leading to the exhumation of the girl's body after obtaining permission from the public prosecutor.
