The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attempted assassination of Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, which took place last night. A statement from the foreign ministry said: "The Arab Republic of Egypt expresses, on November 7, in the strongest terms, its condemnation and denunciation of the failed assassination attempt against Mr. Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, the Prime Minister of Iraq. Egypt affirms its solidarity with the brotherly nation of Iraq against anything that threatens its security and stability or undermines the cohesion of its internal front." The foreign ministry's statement continued: "Egypt emphasizes that these miserable terrorist acts will not deter the brotherly Iraq from continuing its journey of national achievements, the latest of which was the holding of parliamentary elections last month. Egypt calls on all Iraqi parties to exercise restraint and prioritize national interests in order to maintain the security, stability, and sovereignty of brotherly Iraq."
