Billionaire and businessman Elon Musk expressed his desire, before he dies, to build factories for his electric vehicle company, Tesla, on Mars. Musk (50 years old) confirmed during the Tesla shareholders' meeting held in Austin, Texas, last week that the idea of creating a "factory off-planet" may not happen in the near future, but it is possible within his lifetime, according to the American website "Fox Business."
In response to a question from shareholders about when Tesla would build electric vehicles off-planet, Musk stated that it would be many years before this could be achieved. Musk added to the investor: "I mean, I would like to see one before I die, that would be great. I don't know what we will have in 40 years, but I hope this happens before I die."
Tesla currently has four factories on Earth, three of which are in the United States and one in Shanghai, China. The company is also preparing to build a factory in Berlin, Germany, and another in Austin, Texas, which will be known as "Giga Texas," according to "Sputnik."
In February, Elon Musk unveiled an ambitious plan to send humans to Mars by 2026, seven years before the U.S. space agency NASA intends to send astronauts to the "Red Planet." To achieve this plan, Musk's company SpaceX is developing the powerful "Starship" rocket alongside a super booster capable of carrying humans and supplies to the Moon and Mars. Musk believes that once humans reach Mars, one million people could potentially live on Mars by 2050 in "glass domes."
