Poland Announces Detention of 100 Migrants Attempting to Illegally Enter from Belarus

The Polish Ministry of Defense announced the detention of a group of around 100 migrants last night as they attempted to illegally cross into Poland from Belarus. The Ministry stated on its official Twitter account on Thursday that these migrants tried to breach the border near the village of Dubicze Cerkiewne, holding Belarusian special forces responsible for leading this infiltration attempt. The ministry published footage showing the detained migrants. This comes at a time when thousands of migrants from the Middle East wishing to enter the European Union are still stuck at the border between Belarus and Poland, amidst mutual accusations between Minsk and the European bloc of orchestrating the crisis. Poland has deployed thousands of soldiers at its border with Belarus to prevent migrant infiltration into its territory.
