The Strongest Passports of 2021: Here's the Leading Arab Ranking

Every year, many anticipate the Henley Passport Index ranking, which relies on the criteria of the International Air Transport Association, to learn about the rankings of countries and the strongest passports that allow holders to travel visa-free or with a visa on arrival. The latest report from the Henley Passport Index for the most convenient passports to travel with in 2021 lists 110 countries globally.

Japan topped the global ranking, as its citizens can access 192 destinations worldwide, whether visa-free or by using a visa on arrival. Singapore shared the first position with Japan, enabling its citizens to reach 192 destinations. South Korea and Germany ranked second, with citizens of both countries able to access 190 destinations without a visa or using a visa on arrival.

In the top ten for the best passports of 2021, after Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and Germany, came Italy, Finland, Spain, and Luxembourg (189 destinations), Denmark and Austria (188 destinations). Sweden, France, Portugal, the Netherlands, and Ireland ranked sixth with 187 destinations, followed by Switzerland, Belgium, Norway, and New Zealand (186 destinations), Greece, Malta, the Czech Republic, and Australia (185 destinations), Canada and the United States (185 destinations), and Hungary (183 destinations).

As for Arab countries, the UAE topped the Henley Index for the strongest passports, ranking 16th overall, with the ability to access 174 destinations visa-free or with a visa on arrival.

3. Kuwait - 95 destinations

4. Bahrain - 84 destinations

5. Oman - 80 destinations

6. Saudi Arabia - 79 destinations

7. Tunisia - 71 destinations

8. Morocco - 63 destinations

9. Mauritania - 59 destinations

10. Algeria and Jordan - 52 destinations

11. Egypt - 51 destinations

12. Lebanon and Sudan - 41 destinations

13. Libya - 40 destinations

14. Palestine - 37 destinations

15. Yemen and Somalia - 34 destinations

Conversely, Christian H. Kälin, Chairman of Henley & Partners, stated: "Just a year ago, all indicators confirmed that global mobility rates would continue to rise, that freedom of travel would increase, and that holders of strong passports would enjoy access to more destinations than ever before."
