British MP Stabbed Multiple Times... Breathes His Last

British Conservative MP David Amess has died from his injuries after being stabbed "multiple times" today, Friday, while attending a gathering in his constituency in Southeast England.

The police clarified that they arrested the attacker after being alerted and arriving at the scene following reports of the stabbing, although they did not name Amess. They confirmed that "the assailant was detained shortly after," adding that they were not searching for anyone else, indicating there were no other suspects involved.

The 69-year-old politician, a prominent member of Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Conservative Party, was holding a routine weekly meeting with constituents at the "Bell Farm Methodist Church" in the small town of Leigh-on-Sea when he was unexpectedly attacked with several stabs that caused severe injuries, leading to his death.

Shocking Incident

While the police did not reveal much detail about the attack and its motives, former Conservative Party leader Iain Duncan Smith described the incident as horrific and shocking. He expressed his condolences to Amess's family during this terrible time via a tweet, emphasizing that such violent behavior cannot be tolerated in politics or in any aspect of life.

Previous Attacks

It is worth noting that the UK has witnessed several stabbing incidents and terrorist attacks in recent years. British MPs have previously faced attacks during similar occasions in their constituencies, including Labour MP Jo Cox, who was killed in 2016 just before the Brexit referendum. Additionally, Liberal Democrat MP Nigel Jones was injured in 2000, and one of his aides was killed after being attacked by an individual wielding a sword in Western England.
