During a session in Jeddah chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi Cabinet condemned what it called "terrorist militia attacks linked to Iran" in Yemen and Iraq. These attacks targeted oil facilities in the Riyadh and Eastern regions, as well as commercial ships in the Red Sea, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The Cabinet emphasized that the kingdom will not hesitate to protect its security, interests, and national resources, stressing that it will respond firmly to any hostile acts in accordance with international humanitarian law and customary rules, adhering to the principle of proportionality.
The Cabinet also urged the Iraqi government to take all necessary measures to ensure that Iraqi territories are not used as a launching pad for attacks against Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, it expressed gratitude for the positions of countries and international organizations that condemned the attacks and praised the readiness and efficiency of Saudi air defenses in confronting them.
The Cabinet reiterated Saudi Arabia's commitment to fostering dialogue and diplomacy, enhancing international cooperation, and noted the current phase requires developing a regional system based on respecting the sovereignty of states, non-interference in internal affairs, good neighborliness, ensuring freedom of navigation, and adhering to international law.
It also highlighted continued communication and consultations with friendly and brotherly countries to de-escalate tensions and ensure the security of the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea waterways, contributing to regional and international stability.
