Biden: We Will Soon Announce Our Independence from Coronavirus

U.S. President Joe Biden celebrated the 245th Independence Day of the United States on Sunday, noting that America will soon celebrate its independence from the coronavirus. In a speech at the White House, Biden stated, "Today, across this nation, we can say with confidence (America is coming back together)."

He added, according to "The Hill," "Two hundred and forty-five years ago, we declared independence from a distant king. Today, we are closer than ever to declaring our independence from a deadly virus. This does not mean that the battle against COVID-19 is over. We have a lot of work to do."

However, he also mentioned, "The virus no longer paralyzes our nation, and we can ensure that it does not happen again." The Biden administration did not meet its goal of vaccinating 70% of Americans with at least one COVID-19 shot by July 4. Nevertheless, Biden highlighted the progress the country has made in combating the pandemic, stating, "People can return to work, children are going back to school, and the economy is on the rise." According to government data, 67% of adults in the United States have received at least one vaccine dose, while 58% are fully vaccinated.
