Several provinces and areas in Lebanon witnessed protest demonstrations and road blockades in response to the deterioration of economic and living conditions and the rise in the exchange rate of the dollar.
The National News Agency reported that activists from the "Tyre Movement" organized a protest demonstration this evening against the worsening economic and living conditions and the rise in the dollar exchange rate, starting from the Alaa Square and traversing the streets of the city. Participants raised Lebanese flags and chanted slogans calling for people to take to the streets. They affirmed their commitment to continue their movement until the "corrupt system" is overthrown. The march was accompanied by strict security measures from the army and security forces.
In a related context, the National News Agency correspondent in Tripoli reported that groups from the neighborhoods of Jabal Mohsen and Al-Qobbeh blocked roads and burned tires in protest against the deteriorating living and economic conditions, marking the first time residents from both areas came together for a united popular movement. Meanwhile, in Tripoli, a number of activists in the popular movement blocked the main road in front of the Tripoli Serail in both directions with burning tires, waste containers, and stones, protesting against the unrestrained dollar exchange rate and the worsening living conditions. Others blocked the Rifa road in Al-Qobbeh with burning tires, chanting slogans demanding accountability for the corrupt and those involved in the rise of the dollar exchange rate. In Zahle, protesters blocked the road at Zahle Roundabout in both directions with burning tires and stones, while the Ablah Ferzel Roundabout remained closed.
