Man Selling 130 Women: Deceived Them into Marriage and Left Them as Captives

The Taliban has arrested a man accused of selling around 130 women in northern Afghanistan after deceiving them into believing they would marry wealthy men, police sources announced on Tuesday. The man was apprehended in the Jowzjan province, according to the Taliban's police chief in the area, Damullah Siraj. He added, "We are still in the early stages of the investigation. We hope to gather more information about this case later." Local police official Mohammad Sardar Mubarez explained to AFP that the man targeted poor women who were eager to improve their living conditions. He promised to find them the ideal husband who could provide for their needs and later sent them to another province where they were sold as captives. He is accused of selling around 130 women.
