AFC Reveals Gender of Iran Women's National Team Goalkeeper

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) confirmed on Monday that verification results have established the gender of the goalkeeper for the Iran women's national team. The AFC had initiated an investigation following a letter from the Jordan Football Association, requesting verification of the gender of the goalkeeper, who helped the Iran team win against Jordan in the playoff match of the Asian qualifiers. The Jordanian Football Association raised doubts about goalkeeper Zahra Kouadi, prompting their request for verification, and the response from the AFC confirmed that the goalkeeper is female. The official AFC website stated that "the AFC clarified in announcing the verification results that the gender of the Iranian player is female and communicated the final outcome to the Jordan Football Association regarding the submitted complaint."
