In a desire to please his wife, an elderly man from Bosnia devoted himself to fulfilling her wish to live in a house with multiple changing views. Fojin Kostic (72 years old) explained while standing in front of the house he built: "I got tired of her constant complaints and repeated requests for a house that overlooks multiple directions so she can see the sunrise or passersby whenever she wants. So, I told her, fine, I will build you a rotating house that you can change the directions of as you please."
The house, which has attracted the attention of visitors and tourists, is located in a fertile plain in northern Bosnia near the town of Srbac. It rotates on an axis with a diameter of 7 meters, allowing enjoyment of the view of corn fields and agricultural lands that appear like forests during rainy seasons. Kostic stated: "The house can complete a full rotation in 24 hours at its slowest speed, but it can also complete a rotation in just 22 seconds."
Kostic pointed out that he drew inspiration from Serbian-American inventors Nikola Tesla and Mihajlo Pupin, emphasizing that he comes from a poor family, which prevented him from receiving a good education, thus forcing him to search for his own ways to make things himself. He said, "This is not a unique invention; it only requires will and knowledge, and I had enough for that," explaining that he built the house entirely by himself.
The project took 6 years to complete, during which he dealt with heart disease that required him to spend time in the hospital. The man noted that his new house is more resistant to earthquake damage than static houses, before concluding, "When I entered the hospital, I asked the doctors to try to extend (my life) for at least a year so I could finish building the house because the idea is in my head, and no one else can carry it out."
