Prince Ali bin Al-Hussein, President of the Jordanian Football Association, has submitted an official request to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to reveal the true gender of the Iranian women's national team goalkeeper amid suspicions surrounding her. Prince Ali published a statement from the Jordan Football Association in English on his official Twitter account, urging the AFC to take the matter seriously.
The statement called for the AFC to initiate a clear and transparent investigation by a panel of independent medical experts to assess the goalkeeper's eligibility and gender, as well as that of other players on the Iranian team. The statement noted that Iran has a history of violations related to gender manipulation and doping. This statement was issued shortly after the match between the Jordan and Iran women's teams in the qualifiers for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup to be held in India in 2022, where Iran won against Jordan in a penalty shootout.
