AP Editor Calls for Investigation After Israel Bombs Gaza Building Housing Agency's Office

The executive editor of the Associated Press stated that she wants an independent investigation into the Israeli bombing of a building in Gaza that housed the agency's office and the Al Jazeera office. Sally Buzbee noted that the agency has yet to see any evidence from Israeli officials justifying the airstrike that flattened the 12-story Al Jala tower on Saturday. Israeli officials said they carried out the strike because the Hamas movement had an intelligence cell operating within the tower. Buzbee told CNN, "We have heard the Israelis say they have evidence... we do not know what the evidence is. We see it as appropriate at this time to conduct an investigation to determine the truth of what happened yesterday." Israel sent warnings to civilians in the building, allowing them to exit before the tower was destroyed by missiles. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told CBS that the building had "an intelligence office for the Palestinian terrorist organization coordinating and organizing terrorist attacks on Israeli civilians, making it a legitimate target."
