Egyptian security authorities revealed a surprise in the case of a woman who offered her newborn child for adoption on the social media site "Facebook." The Egyptian Ministry of Interior stated in a statement that security forces were able to identify the perpetrator, who resides in Giza Governorate. After legal measures were taken, she was targeted, and she was apprehended in the precinct of the Qasr al-Nil police station, along with another person and the newborn child.
The ministry added that when confronted, the woman admitted that due to her previous "informal" marriage to the second person and having the child with him, she did not want him to take responsibility for the child. This led her to the idea of offering the child for sale under the guise of adoption through a page on Facebook, prompted by threats from the second individual regarding a promissory note if she kept the child. When the latter was confronted with her statements, he confirmed them.
