Egyptian Artist Reveals She Fled 24 Hours Before Her Wedding

The Egyptian artist Nahed El-Sebaie revealed that she escaped from her wedding party just 24 hours before it was set to begin, despite having signed the marriage contract and her mother being aware of her wish to separate. She stated, "I cannot stand men at all... I am their enemy." Nahed El-Sebaie made these comments during her appearance on the program "Kalima Akhera," hosted by journalist Lamis El-Hadidi, which airs on "ON" channel. She mentioned that she told her mother she felt uneasy about being with her fiancé and requested to leave, as they were in Ain Sokhna for the wedding. She noted that after encountering some issues, she decided not to proceed with the marriage, insisting she would not live with any problems, even minor ones, according to Egyptian newspapers.

She added, "I had hopes that I couldn't grasp, but I realized that no one can change unless they want to change," sarcastically commenting on the traits of the man she intended to be with, saying, "I cannot stand men at all... I am their enemy."

On the other hand, producer Nahed Farid Shawki, Nahed El-Sebaie's mother, remarked, "I did not object to her fleeing, even though the marriage contract was signed. I told her there is nothing left; we will do whatever you feel." She revealed, "We were already in Ain Sokhna, preparing for the wedding, and I did not feel she was rejecting it before the wedding night."

She continued, "I was the one who faced ending the wedding, and I was convinced it was a turning point. I couldn't tell her anything opposite to what she felt; she had a deep feeling that led us to end the matter."

El-Sebaie said, "Whenever I feel someone telling me they found a groom for me to meet him, I cause chaos, cry, and scream." Her mother commented, "She gets stressed and becomes ill, and I would wonder if she was acting."
