Electricité du Liban announced in a statement today, following its announcement on 01/03/2021, that the ship carrying gas oil has completed the discharge of the quantity designated for the Deir Ammar plant and is set to leave Lebanese territorial waters. It is expected that, after improvement in weather and sea conditions tomorrow, the vessel carrying fuel oil (Grade A) will begin discharging the remainder of its cargo designated for the Jiyyeh thermal plant, followed by another vessel carrying fuel oil (Grade B). Thus, the gradual improvement in electricity supply will continue throughout all Lebanese regions, including the Beirut administrative area, after the completion of the unloading of the remaining cargo from the Grade A fuel oil vessel for the Jiyyeh thermal plant, and the cargo from the Grade B fuel oil vessel designated for the two electricity-producing ships and the reverse cycle plants in Dhour El Choueir and Jiyyeh.
The statement also reiterated that Electricité du Liban continues to take necessary precautionary measures to maintain the greatest possible stability in electricity supply for as long as possible amid the current difficult circumstances in the country, especially since it is still disbursing from the remaining balance of the state contribution under Law No. 6 dated 05/03/2020. Accordingly, Electricité du Liban once again apologizes to the esteemed citizens for this situation beyond its control.
