Hospitals Syndicate Affirms Full Care for Doctors Without Requesting Advance Payments

The Hospitals Syndicate confirmed that it provides full care for doctors without asking them for any advance payments or any administrative procedures related to covering costs.

The National News Agency reported a statement from the Hospitals Syndicate in response to repeated statements from the President of the Lebanese Physicians in Beirut regarding hospitals charging additional fees from doctors who are hospitalized due to COVID-19. The Syndicate clarified that hospitals are keen on providing complete care for doctors without requiring any advance payment or administrative procedures related to cost coverage.

The Syndicate's statement added that doctors have coverage from the National Social Security Fund, in addition to an insurance policy from a private company, which is responsible for covering the difference between the approved rates and the rates agreed upon between the company and each hospital. This indicates that the responsibility of the Physicians Syndicate is to ensure that the contracted company fulfills its obligations toward hospitals, rather than demanding that hospitals provide 100% coverage for doctors' hospitalization. It questioned why, if this were not the case, there would be a contract between the Physicians Syndicate and the insurance company.

The Hospitals Syndicate emphasized that hospitals spare no effort in treating doctors and their families with special consideration, appreciating their efforts during these difficult circumstances, noting that excellent familial relationships among them will not be tarnished by rumors or rivalries from elsewhere.
