UAE Strongly Condemns Al-Aqsa Incursion and Displacement of Palestinian Families

Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State, asserted that the UAE expresses its deep concern regarding the violent events witnessed in occupied East Jerusalem. He strongly condemns the incursion into the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the displacement of Palestinian families from Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, which resulted in injuries to several civilians. Al Marar pointed out that "the UAE strongly condemns and denounces the incursion by Israeli authorities into the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque," emphasizing "the necessity for Israeli authorities to bear their responsibility under international law to provide the necessary protection for Palestinian civilians and their right to practice religious rituals, as well as to stop any practices that violate the sanctity of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque." The UAE Minister of State also stressed the "necessity of respecting the role of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in caring for the holy sites, in accordance with international law and the historical status quo, and not interfering with the authority and powers of the Jerusalem Waqf and the affairs of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque." Al Marar called on the Israeli authorities to "bear the responsibility of de-escalation and to end all assaults and practices that contribute to the continuance of tension and resentment." He also emphasized the "necessity of preserving the historical identity of occupied Jerusalem, calming the situation, and exercising maximum restraint to avoid pushing the region into new levels of instability and threats to peace."
