Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has accused Ukrainian authorities of intensifying attacks on civilian transportation, describing it as an attempt to retaliate against civilians due to military failures at the frontlines. She emphasized that all those responsible for these attacks will be held accountable.
In a statement, Zakharova reported that a drone targeted a civilian bus in the city of Shebekino on the morning of July 28, injuring 19 people, six of whom were seriously injured. She also noted that another drone attack on the same day targeted a passenger bus in the city of Horlivka in the Donetsk People's Republic, resulting in five injuries.
According to the Russian account, the drone operators were aware that they were targeting civilian transport not connected to the Russian armed forces, which Zakharova claims represents a violation of international humanitarian law.
The Russian Investigative Committee has reportedly launched criminal cases concerning what are described as "terrorist attacks," with Zakharova affirming that all involved will face justice, stressing that "retribution is inevitable."
Furthermore, the Russian Foreign Ministry has called on the international community, including international organizations and independent media, to publicly condemn these attacks. They argue that ignoring or covering up such actions constitutes an incitement to terrorism and a disregard for international humanitarian law violations.
