Under the title "Tragic Death of Egyptian Woman During Torturous Exorcism Session," Sky News Arabia reported a heartbreaking murder case that occurred in the Helwan area, south of Cairo, Egypt. A spiritual healer, referred to as a "charlatan," allegedly ended the life of a housewife by binding her with ropes and subjecting her to brutal beatings and torture under the pretense of exorcising a spirit from her body, leading to her death from her injuries.
According to a security source, the victim, identified as "Laila," was 35 years old and was suffering from severe psychological distress. Her husband sought the help of a spiritual healer to treat her. The source noted that the husband aided the "charlatan" in the supposed treatment sessions by restraining his wife, allowing the charlatan to beat and torture her in an effort to "remove the possession" from her, as expressed by the source.
During one of these brutal sessions, the victim could not endure the torture, leading to severe exhaustion and loss of consciousness. The "charlatan" fled the scene after instructing the husband to let her rest briefly on her bed. After a short time, the husband returned to check on her, only to find her lifeless body. He swiftly informed her family, confirming that she had succumbed to the torture and beatings.
The security source concluded that the husband went to the health inspector to finalize burial procedures. However, the health inspector suspected foul play after a preliminary examination of the body revealed injuries and bruises. The inspector reported the incident to the police, and after a thorough investigation, the "charlatan" was arrested. He confessed to treating the victim for "jinn" possession through beating and torture but claimed that he did not intend to kill her.
