Washington Angry Over Violence Against Iraqi Protesters

U.S. State Department spokesman Ned Price stated in a statement on Thursday that the United States is outraged by the threats and "brutal violence" faced by peaceful Iraqi protesters. Security and medical sources reported that one person was killed and several others were injured on Tuesday when Iraqi security forces fired live ammunition into the air to disperse anti-government protests in central Baghdad.
