Many people consider taking diet pills and herbal supplements to aid in weight loss, but a British doctor has denied the ability of diet pills to burn fat. Dr. Negat Aref warned in a television interview that weight loss pills are ineffective and suggested some herbal ingredients that you can incorporate into your diet for weight loss.
Dr. Negat stated, "Herbal supplements usually utilize a whole plant or a combination of plants that will have the desired effect, which can be achieved using things like cinnamon, licorice roots, African white beans, and green tea."
She explained that promoters of diet pills claim they increase energy levels so you can exercise more or burn calories or "burn fat," while this has not been confirmed in any documented studies, according to the British newspaper Express.
Dr. Negat revealed that she had taken diet pills and dietary supplements in the past, saying, "I feel embarrassed about this as a doctor; I now know that taking pills or dietary supplements will not make me lose weight."
She added, "Taking diet pills is pointless, and there is no such thing as food that allows you to burn fat; there is nothing like that; it is a myth. I think we need to better understand emotional eating and our body image."
Dr. Negat's final advice was, "There is no magic recipe for weight loss, and the solution is to follow a diet that reduces calories and engage in physical activities regularly to achieve that."
