The Jordanian public was shocked by the death of an infant who was forgotten by her mother inside a vehicle. The mother had gone to work in the city of Zarqa, south of the Jordanian capital Amman, and remembered her baby after more than 4 hours, only to find she had passed away. According to a security source, a report was received by the security apparatus regarding an infant suffocating. Upon the arrival of security forces, it was discovered that a 4-month-old infant had died inside her mother's parked vehicle in a designated parking area in the al-Russeifah area near Zarqa.
Following the prosecutor's order, an autopsy was performed on the infant's body at the forensic medicine department in Prince Faisal Hospital in Zarqa. It was found that the cause of death was aspiration and vomiting, which led to her suffocation, and the body was handed over to her family to complete burial procedures. According to investigations, the child's mother is a government employee in Zarqa and has two other children. Previously, she would leave the infant with her aunt who found work, but she brought her child to her workplace, where there is a nursery designated for employee children. However, she forgot the child in the backseat of the vehicle. About 4 hours later, she remembered and hurried to the vehicle, only to find the infant unresponsive, realizing she had passed away.
