The Ministry of Health and Prevention in the UAE announced the first case of the Omicron variant, involving an African woman coming from an African country via an Arab country, who had received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine according to the approved national protocol. The ministry clarified on Wednesday that the infected individual has been isolated and is being monitored, as she has shown no symptoms. Furthermore, all close contacts have been isolated and all necessary health measures have been taken, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM). The ministry also confirmed the health sector's readiness to handle various variants through proactive measures such as investigation and necessary testing procedures. Additionally, it emphasized the importance of vaccination and receiving booster doses, as vaccines help enhance immunity and prevent severe symptoms and deaths, especially in light of emerging variants.
