Baldwin Talks in the Street About the Tragic Shooting of His Film's Cinematographer

American actor Alec Baldwin was driving his car yesterday, Saturday, outside a quaint town in Vermont, accompanied by his wife Hilaria, when he was stopped by journalists and photographers. He got out of the car and spoke for the first time since the shooting death of his cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins, from a stray bullet fired from a gun he was holding on October 21 on the film set of "Rust" in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

He mentioned that he is cooperating with the police regarding Hutchins' death and speaks to them daily. As heard in a video featured by "Arabia.net," he expressed that she was his friend, saying, "We were a very professional team filming together, then this terrible incident occurred, but I cannot talk about the ongoing investigation," according to the 63-year-old actor.

Baldwin explained while standing on the road with his wife that accidental incidents "happen on film sets from time to time, but nothing like this occurs... it's one in a trillion. Let’s remember how many rounds have been fired in films and television shows over the past 75 years—this is America. How many billions in the last 75 years? Almost all without incidents. So we must realize that when this error occurs, which is horrific and catastrophic, new measures need to be taken, such as rubber and plastic guns, no live ammunition, no real firearms on set."

For this reason, Baldwin confirmed his interest in reducing the use of firearms on film sets after the tragic incident, stating, "This is not my decision, as I'm not an expert in that field, so whatever others decide is the best way forward concerning the safety of people working on film sets, and we all support that, and I will cooperate in any way possible." This comes as the New Mexico police have not charged him after he accidentally shot and killed his cinematographer with a stray bullet in her chest, injuring the film's director slightly in the shoulder.
