A hefty fine has been imposed on a teenage supporter who entered the pitch after the scoreless draw between Portugal and the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on Thursday to get a shirt from star Cristiano Ronaldo. According to the British newspaper "Daily Star," 11-year-old Addison Whelan was fined £2,500 for her actions.
In an interview with an Irish radio station, Addison clarified that her father would pay the fine for her, expressing her happiness about what happened despite the consequences of her actions. She described her pitch invasion, saying, "I was sitting in the second row, so I jumped to the first and then over the barrier, and I quickly ran onto the field. There were security guards running behind me, and two more coming from the other corner of the pitch."
She added, "I shouted Ronaldo's name, and he turned and saw me, asking the guards to let me be." Addison continued, "Ronaldo approached me, and I was in shock, crying. I asked him for his shirt and told him that I am a huge fan of his." She concluded her remarks by saying, "My dad was shocked by what I did, but I am happy to have fulfilled my dream."
