Under the title "Israel Uncovers Iranian Espionage Network and Investigates Damages," the Al Arabiya website reported that amid ongoing espionage rounds and suspicious cyber attacks between Israel and Iran, as announced previously multiple times by Tehran, and less frequently by Israel, an Iranian espionage network in Israel was revealed today, Wednesday. An Israeli cyber company announced the discovery of an Iranian cyber espionage group named MalKamak, according to a correspondent from Al Arabiya/Al Hadath.
The mentioned company clarified that the network had been operating under the radar since 2018 and was only uncovered today. They reported that the network had been spying on targets in Israel as well as in the U.S. and other countries around the world. Additionally, the company noted that it informed the Israeli Cyber Authority, which is currently investigating the extent of the damages arising from this development.
It is worth noting that Tel Aviv has long affirmed that it considers Tehran and its activities, whether public or secret, to be its greatest threat. Conversely, Tehran has repeatedly accused Israeli intelligence of attempting to carry out cyber and sabotage attacks within the country, especially against some nuclear facilities. They have also accused Israel of assassinating nuclear scientists, the latest being last year. Moreover, Iran held Israel responsible for targeting Iranian ships, while Tel Aviv has made similar accusations in recent months, blaming Iran for attacks against Israeli commercial and civilian vessels.
On Tuesday, the Israeli army commander reiterated his country's stance, vowing to intensify activities, including covert operations, against Iran and its nuclear program, and confirmed that intelligence operations are targeting the consolidation of Iran's regional presence in the Middle East.
