According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry, "Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein," noting that "Hussein handed the Turkish President a message of invitation from Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi to attend the summit meeting scheduled to be held in Baghdad at the end of this month at the level of leaders of Iraq's neighboring countries." The statement added that "the meeting discussed a range of issues related to bilateral relations and the situation in the region."
